Age Calculator

Calculate exact age from a date of birth in years, months and days – plus total days, weeks, hours and a countdown to the next birthday.

How age is calculated

Age is counted in completed calendar units. First count the full years since the birth date, then the full months since the last birthday, then the remaining days. If the day of the month has not been reached yet, the calculator borrows the number of days in the previous month. For example, someone born on June 15, 1995 is 31 years, 3 months and 27 days old on October 12, 2026.

Leap day birthdays

People born on February 29 officially turn a year older on March 1 in non-leap years in many countries (and on February 28 in others). The next-birthday countdown here uses March 1 for common years.

Why use an age calculator?

  • Checking age requirements for jobs, visas, exams, retirement or insurance.
  • Finding the exact age of a child in months for milestones.
  • Knowing which weekday you were born on.
  • Fun facts: how many days or hours old you are.

To count days between any two dates, use the days between dates calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How old am I if I was born in 2000?

In 2026 you are 26 if your birthday has already passed this year, or 25 if it hasn't yet. Enter your full date of birth above for the exact answer.

How do I calculate age in months?

Multiply the full years by 12 and add the extra months. The calculator shows this as “Total months”.

Can I calculate age on a future or past date?

Yes. Change the “Age at this date” field to any date to see how old someone was or will be on that day.

Is my birth date stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
