How business days are counted
Business days (working days) are Monday through Friday. The counter includes both the start and the end date, removes Saturdays and Sundays, and – if the box is ticked – removes US federal holidays that fall on a weekday. When a holiday lands on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday before; on a Sunday, on the Monday after.
US federal holidays included: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Outside the US, untick the box and subtract your own public holidays.
When to use a business day calculator

- Payment terms, bank transfers and settlement dates.
- Notice periods, legal deadlines and response times.
- Project planning and payroll – working days × hours per day = working hours.
