How to count days between two dates
The calculator counts the number of midnights between the two dates – the standard way to measure elapsed days. From January 1 to January 31 is 30 days. If you want to count both the first and the last day (for example the length of a holiday, a rental or a course), tick Include the end date and you get 31.
The years-months-days breakdown counts whole calendar months, so March 15 to May 20 is 2 months and 5 days, regardless of how many days each month has.

Frequently asked questions
How many days are in a year?
365 days in a common year and 366 in a leap year. Leap years are divisible by 4, except century years not divisible by 400 (2000 was a leap year; 2100 will not be).
Should I include the end date?
Include it when you are counting days on which something happens (for example a 5-day event from Monday to Friday). Leave it off when measuring elapsed time between two moments.
How many weeks are in a year?
52 weeks and 1 day (52 weeks and 2 days in a leap year).
Can I count days into the past?
Yes. If the end date is before the start date, the result is shown as a negative number of days.
